The past week has been exciting indeed, with the IMF on and Diaspora being the highlight of my week. A very tiring highlight, but still a highlight.Superficially, the gahmen did a good job prettying things up with their adorable little carnivals with local food and fireworks and all that jazz, and I have to admit it was quite fun eating free bachang and popiah and other local foods while watching angmohs try on the fancy chinese dress etc etc. And it was nice of them to issue invites to us to attend the events. But I'm so irritated with how things were handled internally I could just expire. As my colleague said, the only term to describe the situation is cao kuan. I obviously don't dare to say too much here, but seriously, things somewhere up there need a good revamp. And maybe a kick in the arse.Other than that, I've learned a lot this past week and I'm sure I'll learn more in time. This weekend is Karen-time though... Haircut, foot massage, shopping, girl-talk, and movie. That's for tomorrow. And as for Sunday... well.. dimsum might be on the cards....:)!
