It hit me like a ton of bricks that I'm growing up too fast and I can't stop it. Yesterday I went back to CJ for a meeting at the very performing arts centre that I helped to raise money for 5 years ago but haven't got to see until yesterday. Things have changed, but the school still feels the same as it did in 2001/2002. And I met B.Paul and Michael Tan and Ms Ng and P.Chua and they were surprised to see me, and all gave the same response "Oh my goodness you're working already." And I met Mun Hoa (the Technical Manager) and he recognised me from Christmas Play 2001 when Mello and I co-directed it, and he was horrified to realise that it's been 5 years... 5 whole years since the time when I was first discovering how exciting theatre could be. I felt so jealous of the students in that light blue uniform. And I wanted to stop them as they walked past me to tell them to appreciate their time in CJ cos it would be the best 2 years of their lives. I may be the youngest in the office and everyone's "xiao mei mei," but really, how I wish I was 17 again. Just so I could do the whole CJ thing once more.
