DimSum and Phantom

A great day today I must say. Met a ton of CSS peeps for dimsum buffet. Quite cheap. =) Food wasn't too bad, can't really complain cos it's cheap! Plus as always, the company was great. But enough about the food. Let's talk about what followed.

"You alone can make my song take flight -it's over now, the music of the night . . ."
- Phantom

I don't really know what it is about the movie that really got to me.

~ The Phantom's love for Christine?
~ The fact that he loved her so much that he would do anything to make her his?
~ Raoul's seemingly superficial love for Christine, but which turned out to be something beautiful on its own?
~The great tragedy of giving up the one you really love so that she can be happy?
~ The reconciliation of the 3 lovers in her death? --> How I read the ending is that their reconciliation is established in the Phantom's return of the ring that Raoul gave to Christine; as well as Raoul's gift of the Monkey music-box which belonged to the Phantom -- Isn't it ironic that the 2 men's final gifts to the woman they love, actually belonged to their rivals? Lovely.

I watched the musical, but it didn't really strike me as much as the movie did. Of cos one of the reasons is that in the movie, I could really see the expressions and feel what they felt. At the musical, it was more the singing, and the chandelier falling. =) But there were some parts of the movie that were different from the musical... Hmm. Never mind, out of point.

Loved the cinematography, especially the part when the chandelier was revealed, and everything just goes back in time, with the lifting of the chandelier and the burst of colour on the screen. And the final part where the rose slowly turns to red... Pretty.

I wanna watch it again. Anyone wanna go with me? =)

It's New Yr's Eve tomorrow (or today)... this year has indeed been an interesting year for me. Loads of ups and downs, happy and sad times. But I think I won't dwell on any negative stuff, but keep in mind the many friends that I have gotten to know, the people that I have gotten to know better, the family that I am blessed with and get to know better each day, and the fact that I have many many people around me that I know really do care for me and that I care a lot for too. And not forgetting my precious doggies, the best friends that anyone can ask for because they're here for me all the time, everyday.

Happy New Year everybody. *big hugs for everyone!*

to your darkest dreams..
Purge your thoughts of the life
you knew before..
Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar..
And you'll live as you've never lived before. "
