It's the 1st of December. 24 days to Christmas. I had a conversation with MagicMark that got me thinking (yes, why do I always 'think'. I don't know). Christmas is a beautiful time... but as I said to him just now... it can make or break a lot of things. Christmas has always been my favourite season of the year, but somehow, in the last few years, it has ceased to be as special as it used to be, although I still really look forward to it. Maybe it's cos I'm older and I know that Santa is just a cruel myth, or that receiving presents is not all that important, or that families aren't as united as we thought they were when we were just kids. The season of Christmas has become a volatile one for me... if it doesn't go well, it makes the whole year that just passed seem lousy. I wonder, since when did it become just a way to end off the year? It's so much more than that. When did it stop being the one season that cheered me without fail? When did I allow my personal negativity to affect it, when it should be all about Him? I want something to happen for me this Christmas... but I don't know what it is. But I hope that I will re-discover that great sense of joy that always came to me before, and I won't just celebrate Christmas, but rejoice in the deepest recesses of my heart. And I hope that for you too.
