The Long Overdue Post
I've been back from NYC for 2 weeks, and I haven't exactly managed to settle down properly and blog about my trip, basically because it was too wonderful for words, and writing will never truly bring out the essence of it. So I have simply listed out some of my favourite moments, things, and sights, along with the pictures that go along with them. Be ready for a long post....
Most Embarrassing Moment
I was in the toilet at a Texas restaurant, and there was only 1 cubicle, and about 3 people behind me. The person directly behind me was a frazzled mother and her little baby boy, and I think she wanted to change his diaper in the toilet, so I hurried as much as I could. I flushed the toilet, checking to make sure that the toilet paper was flushed properly, and then I realised that the water level in the bowl seemed to be getting higher and higher instead of lower. And alright, you guessed it. The freaking toilet bowl overflowed. Thank God there wasn't much in there, and I uh, drank plenty of water that day... luckily. Had to go out and tell the poor frazzled mother not to use the toilet, and then walked back to my seat with as much dignity as I could muster.
Most Exciting Moment
Getting on the ferry to go out to see the Statue of Liberty was really exciting. Seeing Lady Liberty in a million movies and TV shows had already prepped me up for this moment, but being in the ferry with so many other people wrestling to take a picture of our first glimpse of her really did it for me. San and I waited at the deck of the ferry with our cameras armed, and at the first glimpse of her, everyone including ourselves started snapping wildly. LOVED THE MOMENT.
Wild wind, Wild hair, Wild heart
Most Scary Moment
Was listening to CDs at the CD store when a guy reached out from behind me to take a CD that was in front of me. I turned around and moved away. He took one look at me and said "Hey, whassup." And then put his hand on my arm. Well obviously I got freaked out, and tried to get away, and he asked "Didn't your mama teach you not to be afraid of strangers?" San was a million miles away and I was ready to panic, but I just pretended I didn't understand him and ran away. I'm a coward.
Best Dessert
I'm a sucker for desserts, and the cakes in NYC are to-die-for. The best I had? Strawberry Cheesecake. A massive slice with real strawberries that took me 1/2 a day to finish. Oh golly, it was The Best.
Look at the strawberries!!!
Favourite Museum
The Metropolitan Museum's egyptian collection is truly amazing. Along with the Museum of Natural History, where they had life-size exhibits of sooo many animals; even some that are extinct. They look really REAL and my favourite one is the 2nd pic with the 2 wolves in mid-run.
A true-blue mummy!
Don't they look cool??
Favourite Musical
I've always loved my Disney princesses. Got fantastic tickets for Beauty and the Beast at 1/2 price, and it was a really really wonderful musical. The guy that played Gaston really looked like the cartoon version, and stage-Belle sounds exactly like cartoon-Belle! The performance was a spectacle itself, with the hugeeee sets of the castle, and the fireworks at certain points of the show.

Most Beautiful Place
The churches have such beautiful architecture, and it's so sad that such beautiful churches have so little people attending mass.
The church in Philly. Comes with nice friars.
The theatres are gorgeous too, especially the New Amsterdam Theatre with it's carved balconys and chandeliers.

The entire theatre has carvings like these... Gorgeous isn't it?
Most Colourful Place
Toys'R'Us!!!!! The place is a massive playground, with 5 stories of toys, AND a huge-ass ferris wheel right in the middle of the place!!! Of course I had to get on the ferris wheel, in the hopes of getting the My Little Pony carriage. But San and I got the Toys'R'Us Giraffe one instead, which I guess isn't too bad. Better than Toy Story.

I'm a Toys'R'Us Kid!
And of course, the Care Bears! My favourite toys in the world. Just look at the massive ones that they have.... soooo cuteeeeee

It was really tempting to buy one.. or all.
Most bo hua
Paid 10.95USD to watch Bewitched, which isn't even worth the money. One interesting thing I learned though - the cinema is free seating.
Most Saliva-Inducing Place
The Hershey's shop! The place is packed with chocolates, chocolates and more chocolates. Along with a Chocolate Making Machine (oooooo), a giant Hershey's kiss, and a massive Reese's Peanut Buttercup collection. They even have lip glosses flavoured with the different Hershey's chocolates!

The Hershey's shop in all its glory

The Chocolate Machine!
Favourite Work of Art
Rene Magritte's The Lovers. Speaks for itself, doesn't it?

Abso-favouritest Place... Times Square. What else?? The place bursts with activity, people, and so many sights and sounds. It's just impossible to get sick of it!
Favourite Shop
Victoria's Secret!!! I was lucky, they were having massive sales when I was there. Ooohh lala, lingerie!!!

Favourite Modes of Transport
The cute yellow cabs and the dirty subways! Well, ya they were my only forms of transport. Can't help it if I like them better than the cabs n trains here.

And finally.. The Cutest Dog I Met
What would any trip be if I don't meet any dogs? Met sooooo many cute dogs, cos they bring their dogs everywhere. Even saw a dog that's as big as a pony, although I have no idea what breed he was. Ahh! I LOVE DOGS! And I visited PetCo, where they have such adorable pups for adoption. That's where I met this little girl... Isn't she the CUTEST?

Just look at those eyes.. and those paws..
There are a million and one other things that I could say about NYC, but I guess that's the best I can do for now. I'll be back again, NYC. Watch for me!
